The Briton was retired at Interlagos as a precaution after rising temperatures in the power unit risked failure and wider damage to the car. Mercedes head of trackside performance Riccardo Musconi said Russell was always scheduled to have a different power unit for Las Vegas and the Abu Dhabi season-ender. "He will be on a different power unit for the final two races so there is no issue from that point of view." Musconi said Hamilton's disqualification from second place in last month's U.S. Grand Prix in Austin for excessive wear of the under-car plank might have contributed to the lack of pace, without being the determining factor.

BUDAPEST, July 22 (Reuters) - Lewis Hamilton has had more pole positions than any driver in Formula One history, but the Briton's 104th in Hungary on Saturday still felt like a first. "It feels like my first pole, believe it or not," Hamilton said after beating Red Bull's runaway championship leader Max Verstappen by just 0.003 of a second. "It feels strange to say that when there's 104 but I don't remember the last time I had a pole, it feels so long ago." On Friday, when he was only 16th fastest, Hamilton said his car felt like the worst, but a day later and he was suddenly fastest -- in both final practice and qualifying after overnight tweaks. The pole lap, he said, had felt like he was hardly breathing.

Nikola postponed a vote on the plan to July 6, after failing to secure enough support at a shareholder meeting last week. The share issue is critical for the company which, like other electric vehicle makers, is facing a cash crunch and weak demand. "The company does not need new shares, they need new leadership," he said. Nikola has been urging shareholders for weeks to vote in favor of its Proposal 2, saying "without these additional shares, Nikola's ability to continue its ongoing operations and objectives, including Nikola's need for capital, will be out of reach."
